CRUISING 2009

CFYC 2009 Cruising Update as of 27 October 2009 The Cape Fear Yacht Club cruising season has come to an end with the completion of the Grand Dunes trip. In all we had ten boats participate and forty-five members at the Grand Dunes Marina and or local accommodations. As usual, the dock party on Friday night was a huge success. Saturday, several of our members took off for Broadway at the Beach and had lots of fun. Others went swimming or just relaxed in the hot tub. Dinner at Ruth's Christ Steak House could not have been better. We had two groups, one with about 20 people and the other with ten. Everyone was more than satisfied with the food and drink.

A first for the club was that there were absolutely no breakdowns on any boat. Although the trip by car is only one hour, the Carolina C and Lucky Tiger dropped anchor at Calabash Thursday night. Ed Schrum indicated that if he knew about this anchorage, he would have dropped the hook well before this and does indeed plan to go there again. This could be a great spot to go next year and raft up for at least a days outing.
